The FWFD Bomb Squad handles all calls related to bomb threats, suspicious packages/explosive devices, and more. Our FWFD Bomb Technicians respond regionally to hazardous device incidents for assessment, render safe procedures and disposal operations. They frequently partner with federal, state and local resources in both criminal investigations and deployment to special events in the city as part of a Joint Hazard Intervention Team. As part of their Homeland Security and Intelligence function, members ensure relevant and timely information is made available to Fire Operations and frequently train first responders and citizens for response to Active Threat Incidents. The Bomb Squad is also responsible for the management, deployment, and training of the city’s bomb detection K-9 program. At our July Citizens Fire Academy class, you will learn more details about the above and even get an up close and personal look at some of the tools, robots, and etc. our Squad uses to do their job! We hope you can join us! This class will take place indoors within our climate controlled Training Warehouse at the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex. The Fort Worth Fire Department's Citizens Fire Academy (CFA) is now a monthly event that any resident of Fort Worth, 16 years of age and older, can attend for free. There is no obligation to attend every month and no application is required. The CFA is an opportunity for the community to engage with firefighters and learn the many disciplines supported by the Fort Worth Fire Department. Classes are held once a month and will include demonstrations as well as hands-on participation.
