CREW Iowa Member Exclusive Event! Join us for an exclusive tour of the brand new Kreg Tool campus in Ankeny, scheduled to open this fall! Event Description Construction is nearing completion on Kreg Tool Global Headquarters in Ankeny and CREW Iowa members are fortunate to have the opportunity to tour the cutting-edge facility before it opens! Kreg Tool was founded in 1989 after Craig Sommerfeld developed a U-shaped single-hole jig to hide the holes in kitchen cabinets that he was building in his home. The first patent for the Kreg Jig was issued in 1990 and the company has grown steadily since. In recent years, Todd Sommerfeld acquired Kreg Tool from his father and is the current CEO and Chairman. Kreg has grown significantly over the last 5-10 years and Sommerfeld realized that to serve the market better a new facility was required. Kreg Tool broke ground on their new Ankeny headquarters during the spring of 2020. The new facility, expected to open this fall, is a $21.6 million project which will employ more than 240 people in 150,000 square feet of production, warehouse, and office space.
