His photographs include the majesty of the Sierra Nevada, the haunting light of Antarctica ice floes, and the dry, sandstone cliffs of America's South West deserts. His incredible images have earned critical acclaim and are shown in numerous fine art galleries throughout California and his work can be found in many private and public collections. Please visit his website for more information and image galleries of his incredible work at www.larrybrenden.com.Haiti Education & Development Corporation: Haiti Education & Development Corporation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to help support education for children in Haiti. HEADCorp is dedicated to advancing education and the development of local communities in Haiti with sustainable economic programs.50% of children in Haiti do not attend school. 30% of children attending primary school will not make it to 3rd Grade. 60% will not make it to 6th Grade. Why is this the case? There are very few public schools in Haiti. About 90% of schools in Haiti are privately run and most charge tuition fees. This is financially impossible for parents who are living in poverty. Two-thirds of all Haitians live on less than $2.00 per day. Nearly 25% of the country’s population lives in extreme poverty — on less than $1.25 per day.Our first project is a collaborative relationship with St. Luc Episcopal Elementary School in Thomassique, Haiti. St. Luc currently has 134 students — grades Kindergarten through 5th Grade. The school is a one-room, partially-enclosed building. The students gather in different corners of the room, according to their grade levels. Parents can send their students to St. Luc free-of-charge. When the school has enough funds to afford food, they feed lunch to the students during the school day. St. Luc provides students a with a safe, stable learning environment where they can be with their peers and feel loved and supported – just like our kids do. Education opportunities are so scare in Haiti, but so critically important. We want to keep the students of St. Luc coming back year after year. Every year of education that Haitians students receive exponentially increases their quality of life. For more information about Haiti Education & Development Corporation, please visit www.headcorp.net.
