Description

The first 12 Down to Earth Women’s (DEW) luncheons were outstanding successes. The first 12 Down to Earth Women’s (DEW) luncheons were outstanding successes. We originally planned an event for 100 women who are in agriculture and/or support the farming community. Each year we are overwhelmed with the response which has consistently exceeded that goal. In 2019 we had over 350 women! Unfortunately, due to the COVID pandemic, the 2020 event was cancelled. But we are back! We are planning the 13th DEW Luncheon, to be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 with an enthusiastic planning committee made up of women throughout our community. Proceeds from the DEW Luncheon will add funds to the Focus Agriculture program, Jimmie Cox Memorial Scholarship and the Farm Bureau’s school programs. We have five different sponsorship levels: $10,000 includes two tables of ten; $5,000 includes a table of ten; $2,500 includes five event tickets; $1,000 includes two event tickets; and $500 includes one event ticket. Your check should be made payable to Agri-Culture. Sponsorships can be processed with a credit card at www.eventbrite.com (search for “Down to Earth Women Luncheon” in Watsonville). Agri-Culture is an educational organization that was created to help the general public gain a better understanding of agriculture in Santa Cruz County and the Pajaro Valley.  Most of the country's population now lives in urban areas, yet it makes political decisions concerning land and agriculture. Farmers constantly make environmental decisions and try to understand urban thinking. It therefore seemed appropriate to create an educational organization such as Agri-Culture to promote mutual understanding of a whole range of topics concerning agriculture.
