Spice up your week with Pooja Uberoi on Tuesday, Aug 17 at 6:30PM for a special Bollywood dance class at Society Las Olas. Grab your sneakers and get ready to move! Learn something new, meet new people, and have fun! Enjoy Indian bites after class. Check-in at 6:30PM. Class will be about one-hour followed by Indian bites. Learn something new, connect, and meet new people! What is Bollywood? Bollywood Dance originated from the Bollywood (Hindi) Movie Industry as a free style dance fused with elements from Indian classical and folk dance forms. It has been and still a song and dance sequence with larger than life expression through various different moves, grandeur sets, picturesque locations and large ensemble. BollyJazz - This fusion dance class brings you the best of the expressive beauty and contagious energy of Bollywood's most stylized dances and mashes them up with the influences of hip hop, Latin, jazz, funk and street styles. About Pooja Uberoi Pooja will share her experiences as a yoga teacher and dance instructor while growing up in India. Pooja was born and raised in New Delhi, India and later moved to Mumbai to work in film and television as a Choreographer and the head of one of the biggest Jazz schools in India. After spending 2 decades in the dance world in India she moved to New York and started Ikigai USA and BollyJazz. Pooja is a trained E-RYT 200-Hr Hatha yoga teacher from an institute in Bangalore, India. She has been inspired by her own journey to create something for the world through dance. She believes dance has the power to heal and connect the world and must be part of everyone's life. Her company, IKIGAIUSA, helps and encourages people to follow their passion and mission by encouraging them to follow their IKIGAI. Pooja currently shuttles between New York City and Miami to teach students in both cities. Pooja also teaches Bollywood as part of various public school dance residencies in Brooklyn, NY. Pooja is also on the executive board for Young BK Professionals base din Brooklyn - A committee that supports the growth of young professionals & entrepreneurs in their 20s & 30s to foster the future leaders of Brooklyn. Refunds Unfortunately no refunds are allowed. Parking: Parking is on-site. You may park in the garage of Society Las Olas for discounted validation. Please enter through the main lobby and head to the pool deck and yoga lawn. You will be required to check-in with security. **Once you enter the garage, go down to the main floor and up the escalator to the main lobby. Grab your cup of coffee and head up to the P-level (security will let you up). Society Residents: This class is open to Society residents and outside guests (limited spots). She is an international yoga teacher, entrepreneur, consultant, and photographer based in Miami, Florida. Prior to yoga, Sam lived overseas for six years in the Czech Republic, South Africa, and Rwanda working in higher education and international development for a non-profit that empowers orphaned teens. In addition to working with large donors and organizations, her greatest role was being a mentor to 16 young girls. After trekking the globe, Sam realized that at the very core of being human is the desire for meaningful connections. She founded Cafe Namaste to help people feel empowered, inspired to bring yoga off the mat. In addition to the events, Sam offers volunteer programs to engage the community in service, or seva. She holds a Master's degree in International Administration from the University of Miami and is an experienced E-RYT200 yoga teacher certified through the Yoga Alliance.
