Wellesley Neighborhood Works With Police To Find Stolen Puppy

WELLESLEY, MA — A man and woman from Framingham were arrested Sunday after police found them with a puppy who had been snatched from her yard in Wellesley three days earlier. Thanks to the hard work of Wellesley and Framingham police officers, "Ember" is safe at home with her family. "Ember was happily reunited with her family Sunday evening. We understand she is doing very well back at home with the children and family," said a spokesperson from the Wellesley Police Department. The unidentified male suspect will be arraigned at Dedham District Court Monday, and the female suspect will appear in court for arraignment at a later date. Both suspects will be charged with receiving stolen property over $1200, and conspiracy. On Thursday, July 22, a family that lives on Redwing Road reported to Wellesley police their 8-month black lab puppy, Ember was missing from their front yard. They say Ember was tethered in their front yard when she disappeared. Officer Harris and Officer Mike Mankavech of the Wellesley police spent the next few days going door to door in the Redwing Road neighborhood, talking to residents and neighbors. They asked residents if they could see security footage from some of the houses nearby and neighbors were happy to help. After an investigation, Officer Harris noticed one car had been circling the family's house before the disappearance. Police say they were then able to determine the license plate and tracked down the Framingham resident it was registered to. Officers say when they got to the Framingham residence, Ember was being let outside in broad daylight by a man and a woman, the suspects who were brought into custody. "We would like to thank all the citizens in the Redwing Road and Cedar Street neighborhoods that we spoke to over the course of the last few days," said a spokesperson from the Wellesley Police Department. "Without the help of the neighbors, this case would probably not have had such a great ending."
