Steamer Lane Design is looking to hire a part time workshop assistant to help with product assembly and shipping. We are located on the westside of Santa Cruz and make laser engraved wood magnets, keychains, ornaments and pins for National Parks and gift shops around the country.
Starting pay is $18/hour. Shifts are 6-8 hours long and available Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday.
A typical day often includes:
Polishing wood engravings.
Attaching split rings to keychains.
Gluing magnets to wood pieces.
Assembling pins.
Tying ribbons and assembling ornaments.
Operating laser engravers (training will be provided, no experience necessary).
Packing and shipping orders.
The work is fast-paced, repetitive, and requires finger dexterity and an eye for detail. You will inevitably get some glue on your hands. Most of the time you will be working independently and can listen to headphones, but you must be able to pay close attention to the details of repetitive tasks for long stretches.
If you're interested, please email with your availability, a resume/list of experience, and a short description of why you think you'd be a good fit. Thank you!
