WAUKESHA, WI—The Waukesha Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department is asking for volunteers to sign up to build a playground in the Oaks neighborhood from Aug. 31 to Sept. 1. There are morning and afternoon shifts available for people or groups to volunteer. The playground will be approximately 4,300 square-feet, with a 20-by-20-foot gazebo. Plans also include a 2-by-4-foot berm along the north side of the property line. Red cedar trees will be planted in the berm with additional trees planted along Madison Street and Prairie Song Drive. Here's what volunteers are being asked to bring to the community build: Tools (pliers, vice grips, screwdrivers, etc.) Sunscreen Bug spray Water bottle Closed toed shoes Work gloves Volunteers must fill out the "One Day Event" Volunteer Application. If you sign up to be a lead volunteer or a photographer, please fill out the Lead Volunteer Registration form and return it no more than 2 weeks prior to the build for application processing and background checks. Volunteers must be at least 12-years-ol and minors need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times during the build. Rain dates will be announced if needed.
