NEW BERLIN, WI — The City of New Berlin will hold its Common Council and Committee of the Whole meetings Tuesday. The 4th of July Commission will meet Wednesday. Here are the details on this week's meetings. Tuesday The Committee of the Whole will meet at 6 p.m. to discuss several items to go to the Common Council agenda. The first item is the committee's vote to approve claims for $21,159.28 for the water utility department, $53,447.56 for the sewer utility department and $1,390,642.02 for the city. Second, the committee will renew or offer new liquor licenses for a list of New Berlin bars and restaurants. Third, the committee will review public bids for building contracts, according to the agenda. One bid wants to build an indoor playground in the future New Berlin recreation center. Another wants to do project site work, storm water and foundation construction. The meeting will take place in a Zoom call. Citizens can join the meeting by going to zoom.us and using Meeting ID 895 8367 0843 to join. The Common Council will meet after the Committee of the Whole adjourns. It will discuss several items brought by smaller committees. The council will vote on a development agreement with Wesner Development to build out four lots at 20855 W. Downie Road, according to the agenda. The council will also vote to amend an agreement with raSmith Inc. to include changes made after the Wesner Development agreement, it added. Next, the council will decide whether or not to elect Robert Rafel to serve on the Plan Commission, according to the agenda. If elected, Rafel would serve from August to July 2022. The council will also make more staff appointments and decide whether or not to grant a property landmark status, according to the agenda document. The council will go into closed session to discuss an offer to purchase Quarry Park, lease terms for a storage space in Hickory Grove, and to donate real estate to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5716, according to the agenda.
