WOODBRIDGE, VA — The Prince William County Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying a man who was found dead a week ago behind a business on Route 1 in Woodbridge. The department said its detectives do not believe at this point that the man's death was the result of foul play. The department is releasing information about the man and his death in hopes of identifying him and making notification to a next of kin. On July 19 at 5:30 a.m., police officers went to a business in the 13900 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy (Route 1) in Woodbridge to investigate the man's death. The caller reported to police that an unknown man was found unresponsive behind a business in the area. Rescue personnel went to the location where the man was pronounced dead. The man's body was transported to the medical examiner's office in Manassas for further examination and autopsy. Based on their investigation, detectives learned that the man was known as "David" to people in the area, with a possible last name of "Gonsales" or "Gonzalez". "David" is known to frequent the area of Jefferson Davis Hwy and the Prince William County Pkwy to retain work and occasionally rented rooms at the nearby Bay View Apartments. "David" may have immigrated to the United States from Quetzaltenango, Guatemala and possibly has family in Gwinnett County, Georgia, according to the department. The police described "David" as a Hispanic man, believed to be between 30-40 years of age, approximately 5-feet, 5-inches tall and 150 pounds with no tattoos or identifying marks. He was wearing a green t-shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers. Anyone with information about the man is asked to contact the Prince William County Police Department tipline at 703-792-7000 or submit a webtip to: pwcva.gov/policetip.
