Driver Crashes Stolen Car, Found With Drugs: Hamden Police

HAMDEN, CT — Two men were arrested early Saturday morning after the driver of a stolen car crashed into a parked vehicle and was found to be in the possession of numerous drugs, according to police. Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Treadwell Street around 5 a.m. on the report of a motor vehicle accident, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Smith said an investigation found that a vehicle, which was being driver by Warren Wicks, struck a parked vehicle. Wicks and passenger, Montrel Rogers, were found at the scene, according to Smith. Wicks was in the possession of drugs, including crack cocaine, heroin and ecstasy, Smith said. The stolen vehicle sustained extensive damage, according to Smith. Wicks, 19, of Shelton Avenue in New Haven, was arrested and charged with second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny, two counts of possession of narcotics, two counts of possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, failure to maintain proper lane and operating a motor vehicle without a license. He was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond. Rogers, 20, of Portsea Street in New Haven, was charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny. He was held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. They are scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 10.
