Special Council Meeting To Focus On Princeton Shopping Center

PRINCETON, NJ — A special council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday where the Princeton Shopping Center will be discussed. On the agenda is a public hearing on an ordinance to amend the shopping center district permitted uses, which includes off-street parking requirements for retail stores, supermarkets, and shopping centers and amending the lighting standards. Under the new ordinance, pharmacies will be allowed to have drive-through installations provided they have no direct public street access. Access will be from within the shopping center, in a bid to reduce traffic congestion. The ordinance also looks to amend zoning regulations. The "Minimum Lot Area" will be changed from 25 acres to 22 acres and the "Minimum Lot Width" from 1,600 feet to 1,500 feet. Also included in the ordinance are amendments to off-street parking requirements, shade trees and landscaping in parking areas, buffer to residential use among others. A final vote on the ordinance is expected on Tuesday, after the public hearing section.
