Press release from Pleasanton Police Department: July 26, 2021 The Pleasanton Police Department is excited to bring back National Night Out and invites the community to participate on Tuesday, August 3rd from 5-9 pm. National Night Out is a law enforcement event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Pleasanton Police Department. By joining forces to celebrate National Night Out, residents can get to know their police department and neighbors! National Night Out is open to all residents and is designed to: (1) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships, (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs, and (3) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Nearly 20 years ago, when National Night Out was first introduced to Pleasanton, it started with four neighborhood block parties. Since then, thanks to our active Neighborhood Watch Groups, the event has grown to over 40 block parties. Parties can include potlucks, barbeques, ice cream socials, live bands, bounce houses or kids parades. Parties who register with the police department before the deadline could be visited by the Pleasanton Police Department, Elected City and State Officials, the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department and a host of allied agencies. The Pleasanton Police Department understands if your party has concerns about COVID-19 and is willing to accommodate specific requests such as wearing face coverings or maintaining social distance.
