America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, the largest hunger relief organization in coastal Georgia has driver positions open in it's Kids Cafe program. The Kids Cafe Driver is responsible for driving a company truck on a regularly-scheduled route to deliver Kids Cafe meals to after-school and summer time programs for low income children. Because this position requires deliveries to childcare facilities, the State of Georgia requires a fingerprint criminal history and child abuse registry check. The state will not approve any applicants with felony convictions in their background and some misdemeanors (sexual and violent offenses or those involving children) regardless of how long ago. This is a permanent, full-time Monday-Friday position, 7:00AM-3:30PM in Savannah. Responsibilities • Responsible for the loading/unloading of Kids Cafe/Summer Feeding meals into 26 ft refrigerated box trucks using manual and electric pallet jacks and dollies. Washing out transportation units on truck to ensure cleanliness. • Maintains the proper handling of food during transportation and delivery to ensure specific temperatures measures and cross contamination guidelines are adhered to per the appropriate county Health Department. • Responsible for the delivery of Kids Cafe meals to after-school and summer programs, ensuring on-time standards are met to the agency’s satisfaction. • Ensures that all food is placed in a hot/cold storage unit identified for Kids Cafe meals at the agency site per the Health Department. • Responsible for maintaining excellent relations with agency and volunteer staff during meal delivery. • Completes agency and program paperwork for the Kids Café Site Coordinator and communicates with Coordinator daily regarding agency deliveries. • Responsible for upkeep of assigned company vehicles to ensure Safety, Fueling, DOT and appearance standards are met. • Reports to the Director of Operations for additional assignments during down time or delays. • Performs other duties as assigned. SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS Do you have? • High School diploma or GED. • Minimum one year of demonstrated and successful experience driving a 26 ft box truck and the ability to safely back into loading docks. • Good driving record. We will pull your MVR to make sure you can be added to our fleet insurance policy. • Good oral and written communication skills. • Self-starter with ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision. • Planning and organization skills. • Good interpersonal skills and friendly personality. • Ability to interact professionally with the public. • Excellent customer service skills. • Pre-employment drug screen, clean driving history and criminal background check required. Pay: $15/hr to start and a raise to $17/hr following 90 day probationary period
