JOLIET, IL — A Crest Hill couple was arrested Monday morning in connection with the U.S. Capitol breach on Jan. 6. The husband and wife are the latest people from Illinois to face federal charges as a result of the insurrection attempt. John A. Schubert Jr. and Amy Schubert were each charged with multiple misdemeanors, including knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building, along with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. Amy Schubert was released on a $10,000 appearance bond. According to court documents, an anonymous tip led the FBI to the Schuberts. On March 2, authorities became aware of a YouTube video with footage from the January breach. It was titled "The Insurrection of The United States Capitol," and officials said the video shows a woman wearing a jacket with the text "Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union 422 Joliet IL." According to the complaint against the couple, a search warrant for Amy Schubert's Gmail account showed photos and video of the two at the Capitol on the day of the breach. Illinois secretary of state records appeared to place Amy Schubert's phone at the Capitol building on the day of the breach as well, authorities said.
