ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst saw eight new coronavirus cases in the last week, down from the previous week, according to statistics from the DuPage County Health Department. This number is similar to previous weeks, despite a national trend showing cases are ticking up slightly. As of Sunday, the city had 4,448 cases. The week before last, Elmhurst saw an increase of eight cases. In the last few weeks, the city has been seeing eight or nine new cases a week. The number of those who have recovered is unavailable. As of Sunday, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst stayed the same in the last week, at 68. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1.5 percent.
