Press release from the Atlanta Police Department: 07/25/2021   On Sunday July 25, 2021, at around 1:05am Atlanta Police were patrolling around 820 James Jackson Pkwy NW due to a large reunion gathering of approximately 1000 people. At the location an APD officer encountered two individuals exchanging gunfire. The officer fired several shots in response to the gunfire.   At this time it is unclear who shot whom, but two people sustained gunshot wounds. One person was transported to the hospital in stable condition and the second was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was not injured.   In keeping with normal procedure, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called and will conduct the investigation.   Deputy Chief Timothy Peek spoke to media on scene:  DC Peek OIS James Jackson Pkwy NW   Please keep in mind that this is preliminary information and may change as the investigation progresses.
