Woman Dies 7 Weeks After Being Shot In Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A woman injured in a shooting in Birmingham seven weeks ago died at UAB Hospital Sunday. Briona Leshay Groom, 27, was shot June 4 on Eastlake Boulevard. Police reports say Groom was shot while in her car, as witnesses reported that her car collided with a chain-linked fence. Groom was removed from the car by police, who noticed she was suffering from gunshot wounds. Groom has been at UAB Hospital since the shooting.
