Wow, I can’t express enough how lame the chicago music scene has become in the past 20 years. Sure covid ruins the last year but even before that it was bad bad bad. Covid might make it so the DJs finally win. All I see is cover/tribute bands. No one wants to hear you play a bad version on “Two tickets to paradise” Eddy already played a bad version and some dude with a laptop can play it for some woman’s 50th birthday to make her happy. Live original music is becoming a thing of the past and because of the attitude of the players in Chicago the music will be gone soon.
If you are in the burbs and want to make good original music (not u playing with your pedals) good music that you can dance to and sing along with that is simple and entertaining. Easy you would think but guitar players think they are Tom morello or bass players being like “I’m the next Flea” or shy singers or drummers that put double bass on everything. What’s wrong with three chords and a problem or two chords and a party?
