The BOBBY BLACKHAT NEW YEAR'S EVE BLUES SPECTACULAR is a family friendly evening of Toe Tappin', Finger Poppin', Hip Shakin' Blues featuring four of the hottest blues acts in Virginia.  This year's lineup includes: RUTH WYAND and the TRIBE of ONE Accompanying herself on foot percussions with intricate picking styles, alternating thumb bass, bottleneck slide, and a warm alto voice Ruth presents a soulful and engaging show. Ruth was a finalist in the 2017 International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN, won the Gamble Roger's Fingerstyle Guitar Competition and the South Florida Folk Festival's songwriting competition. Having honed her chops through decades of performances Ruth Wyand has blazed a trail for herself as an authentic performer, songwriter, and storyteller. Her music reflects the true soul and origins of American Roots Music. With a rootsy approach to songwriting, her songs encompass a broad range of Americana, blues, and jazz steeped in imagery and reality. Demonstrating guitar virtuosity with powerful fingerpicking licks, bottleneck slide, and a warm alto voice Ruth presents a mix of originals and well-crafted instrumental arrangements of classics ranging from Doc Watson, Nina Simone, Leo Kottke to Thelonious Monk. DANNY "MOJO" PARKER Mojo Parker welcomes you to join him on his musical odyssey. His voice is recognized over the Blue Ridge Mountains, down to the Gulf Coast, and into the heart and soul of Memphis, TN. As a two time Semi-Finalist and recent 2020 Finalist of the International Blues Challenge, Mojo is getting recognition and well received attention for his raw, intimate and passionate performance style. Blending a soulful sound with a new and refreshed look at old time classics, you'll be transported back to a time where songs were real life stories that told the tales of the traveling troubadours of the Blues. Mojo's talents don't just rest in solo acoustic blues and folk music. He has recently created The Mojo Parker Express which is a eclectic sound incorporating a groove concoction of funk, rock n roll, soul and Latin flavors. SPECIAL NOTE: Ruth and Mojo will be taking the stage together for a freewheeling, unscripted performance. ​AMY FEREBEE For more than thirty years, Amy Ferebee has been honing her unique musical skills and delighting audiences from D.C. to Dallas and entertaining widely in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Noted for her impressive guitar work and powerful vocals, Ferebee soulfully transports her listeners with an eclectic mix of traditional fiddle tunes and fingerstyle blues, choice new-grass songs and jazz standards, along with some nice originals thrown in for good measure. As a patient and enthusiastic instructor, she currently teaches guitar privately and through the Norfolk Parks & Recreation Department. She successfully launched many beginning guitarists at the legendary Ramblin Conrad’s Folklore Center in Norfolk and at Common Ground on the Hill in Westminster MD. Amy also plays with the Tidewater Classical Guitar Orchestra noted for their Virginia Arts Commission performances through out the state! ROB WHITE & THE RW EXPERIENCE Rob White is a versatile guitarist, snger-songwriter out of Chesapeake Va. Rob performs many different genres of music but his love for playing the Blues is like no other. He discovered a deep love for the blues after realizing how similar his Gospel Quartet roots relates to the Genre. His music is a mix of Blues-Soul-Funk with some Rock and Jazz elements that will make you Move and Groove. Rob has traveled all over the country and overseas. When you see and hear the band play they will give you an experience like you've never had before!
