We’ve got a great “two-fer” lined up for you — Isabel Stover and Kemp Harris. Two jam-packed sets. Two talented bands. We’ve got a great “two-fer” lined up for you — Isabel Stover and Kemp Harris. Each will offer a jam-packed set with their own talented bandmates. And, we hear there’ll be a bit a mash up at the end of the night. Isabel Stover is a Boston-based Jazz vocalist and storyteller who puts on a “heartfelt, warm, and vibrant show packed to the gills with soul.” Stover has a fearless willingness to connect with her audience, by using all the places in her soft, yet penetratingly powerful voice, she does this thoughtfully and purposely as a way of delivering the experience, the message and emotions to her listeners. Stover channels the laid-back style of her West Coast contemporaries, in a manner akin to Diana Krall, Norah Jones and Jane Monheit. Her carefully crafted repertoire is a collaboration between Stover and her quartet of talented musicians, guitarist Steven Kirby, bassist Mark Poniatowski, pianist Mark Shilansky, and drummer Mike Connors. Kemp Harris defies categorization. He is a singer and songwriter; a master weaver of American musical styles. He’s also an actor, activist, author, and storyteller, and an award-winning educator. Kemp has acted in numerous films and TV shows such as SMILF (Showtime), and is comfortable sharing the stage with artists including Taj Mahal, Koko Taylor, and Gil Scott-Heron, as well as performing shows with his smokin' band. He wrote and performed “If Loneliness Was Black” for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Complexions Dance Company. Kemp has also composed for WGBH Public Television/Boston. Kemp's powers of observation, his unique gift for shining a light on our modern world and what it means to be alive in these times, have only deepened over a lifetime devoted to the most basic and profound of pursuits — genuine human connection. "Kemp Harris is a thief, a tease and a heartbreaker. He knows too much. And it’s all right there when he sings… beautifully there. He’ll take your breath away.” —NPR, “On Point” Bar opens at 6pm • Doors open at 7pm • Performance starts at 8pmFull bar • Table service • Light food servedOrder dinner in one of Maynard’s many fine restaurants and bring it with you.For more information, visit Sanctuary’s or Fugitive Production’s websitesTickets available at the door for $22 (while they last).
