Surfrider Foundation of Huntington / Seal Beach is hosting a cleanup at PCH & Brookhurst Hello and Welcome, The Surfrider Foundation of Huntington / Seal Beach is hosting a beach cleanup at PCH & Brookhurst. Inside the State Beach. Our tent should be in front of Banzai Surf School. (If bringing a group out, I would recommend reaching out to Banzai to see if you can take a lesson after the cleanup.) Before coming out: - Bring reusable water bottle, reusable gloves (gardening or mechanic), and sun protection. - Avoid bringing plastic bottles, bags of chips, and other single use plastic products. - I recommend wearing a hat, sunglasses, shorts, and flip flops. - Bonus points if you bring a portable speaker if you want some tunes to listen to. Arriving: - Parking is $15 a vehicle. However, let the attendant know you are there for our cleanup. They might let you in for free. - Sign in at the Surfrider popup tent - We have bags and containers for cigarette butts & needles Cleaning up: - You can scavenge the shoreline, beach, parking lot, etc. - Do NOT collect seaweed, wood, rocks, stones, seashells by the seashore sold by Sally. Let us know if you find any 'sleeping' animals for Parks and Rec. to scoop up. - Bring us back your trash once your bag is full, time runs out, or you must leave. We will weigh the trash, record the weight, then sort out the trash for items to be recycled - For those that need community service hours, it is at this point that you can get a form stating you attended the cleanup.
