NOTE - This ad is in Paw Pay, Michigan, and is sent from Kalamazoo. Seeking a border collie dog for a farmer in Paw Paw. Here's what he needs: - A classic herding and protecting instinct, or trainable border collie, (and not any that is mellow and won't do any work that is natural to border collies). - An aggressive or troublesome personality is acceptable... it only needs to protect the farm area, and farm animals. - Can't be too old. Under 10 years is preferable, but will consider older. We need a dog now. John's farm: - Located in Paw Paw outskirts, remote farm neighborhood. - Farm garden is plowed by horse. - He has chickens and milking goats. - John provides produce, eggs and goat products for sale, mainly at the Kalamazoo market. ( you can visit us there every Saturday for proof we are legitimate ). - John also supplies firewood, apples, soap, beeswax candles, etc. - John has had many of his customers visit his farm, and can see firsthand how he runs the farm. Living conditions: - There is a doggy door so that a dog can come and go, and can also run out to chase away vermin. - John makes all the meals. His past dog companions were well fed with fresh farm food. ( John's past dogs died of old age ) John's methods: - John prefers traditional ways of farming. No store bought dog foods. - If a dog does not get along with people, other dogs, kids, cats, etc. but does the job of protecting the farm, then it is the perfect dog that he wants. - John is willing to train a dog that has a clean slate, that is obviously trainable without resistance, and will take to protecting the farms animals and area naturally. - Any dog will find that John will make a good companion. - John is not computer savvy, therefore, I am creating this ad for him, and as the main contact person.
