Description

Command Staff and Peer Support Response to PTSS, Mental Health, and Addiction The South Elgin Police Employee Wellness will be hosting a live, in-person training for employees and First Responders: Tuesday, November 2, 2021 @ 9:00 AMWednesday, November 3, 2021@ 1:00 PMWednesday, November 3, 2021 @ 8:00PM (for spouses)This will be a two-hour meeting and we will have three guest speakers. The presentation will be from the first responder staff of the Help For Hero's Program at Transformations Treatment Center in Delray Beach, Florida. This two-hour training showcases how first responders suffer in silence and are afraid to ask for help from their command staff. We will discuss why so many first responders "suffer in silence" because they feel they cannot access treatment without being "outed". This session will guide and direct the peer support officer and the supervisor how to help the first responder command staff. HR and Peer Support must know the employees rights to the Federal Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and how it pertains to public service. This will be an in-depth look at what a true first responder treatment center looks like and how the first responder is able to lead a successful life after treatment. The objective of this training is to show command staff and peer support that PTSS and trauma experienced on the job is a treatable event and your first responder can lead a productive life. Transformations Treatment Center (Help For Hero's Program) is an approved and certified treatment center by the National Fraternal Order Of Police (FOP) Wellness Board.
