Description

Discuss public policy issues surrounding atonement, reconciliation, and reparations in the Central Texas/Greater Austin Area As part of a two-part series, Deepening the Dialogue: Atonement, Reconciliation, & Reparations is a forum to engage with community leaders from across the community. The goal of the forum is to hear from those with lived experience and key stakeholders on the public policy issues surrounding atonement, reconciliation, and reparations for the Black community in the Central Texas/Greater Austin Area. It requires hearing from all parts of the community while centering our attention on hearing from Black voices. For Part 2, the forum will discuss the current ideas locally and discuss next steps moving forward. Feedback and input from the forum will be collected and used to develop a report to be shared with the City Council at the City of Austin and other elected officials to help make decisions on how to best move forward with atonement, reconciliation, and reparations. The event will be in person and will be partially streamed on Facebook. Deepening the Dialogue is presented by the Central Texas Collective for Racial Equity in partnership with the Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law, Anti-Defamation League Austin, The New Philanthropists, Black Austin Coalition, Asian American Resource Center, and the City of Austin's Equity Office. *** If you would like to volunteer to serve as a small group facilitator or note taker, please sign up here.
