Description
Hi everybody. I play guitar and bass, plus program stuff in Ableton Live. I'm looking for a collaborator to write with. Not looking for any instrumentation in particular. Open to vocals, guitar, bass, electronics, keys, strings, etc. Willing to try anything and play it by ear. What I'm really looking for is to solve a little problem. I tend to go too quickly from one idea to the next without ever fully fleshing anything out, so I'm hoping to establish a new workflow by involving someone else, and potentially create a fruitful structure through a regular schedule of writing sessions and an established timeline for meeting goals. It's way different than I usually work (if you can even call it work) but I think a drastic change is the only way to get different results. If you're reading this and thinking, "He sounds like me" then I think we won't be of any help to each other. My guess is that the right combination of differing personality types will result in an effective songwriting team. As far as the style of music, I'm into a pretty wide variety of things. I go from playing slightly dissonant, droney arpeggios on my alt-tuned baritone into a reverb drenched Fender Twin, to massive detuned chugging, to blissed out, effects laden sonic washes. I'm less experienced as a bass player, but I do enjoy it a lot. I tend to go for heaviness ala Godflesh, or extreme low end rumbling, like in Trip-Hop (I'll never tire of "Mezzanine") or, as I've been experimenting with lately, approximating modern hip-hop bass tones. Experimentation is something I've always been keen on, never being dogmatic about what I'm supposed to do or sound like. In Ableton, I tend to go for electronic kits, drawing on my love of Industrial and heavy bass grooves. Anyway, I've got more gear at home than I really need, and I've gotten fully vaccinated, so if you're interested in coming by for an improv session please let me know. We can chat ahead of time to see if we have sufficient in common so as to not needlessly waste anyone's time. I just ask that in your initial response you tell me a bit about yourself, enough to let me know that you're serious and actually read this. Sometimes I get one-sentence responses just asking for a sound sample, which I find obnoxious. Thanks!
