Description

CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams were called to Interstate 393 on Sunday for a report of a smoke investigation that led to the discovery of another fire at a homeless camping site. Around 12:15 p.m., dispatch began receiving calls about smoke billowing from underneath the interstate, between South Commercial and North Main streets. Tower 2 sent its engine to the area where they found a small fire at the homeless camping site. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire with remote canisters and then they cleared the area. There were no injuries. Police and firefighters have been called to the area underneath the bridge a number of times for fires and criminal activity. In late May, police and firefighters were called to a dumpster fire, not far from Sunday's fire. One man was arrested, accused of setting fire to the dumpster, which had propane tanks inside.
