DOWNEY, CA — A brush fire burning near the Century/Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway in Downey prompted the California Highway Patrol to issue a SigAlert Sunday afternoon. The blaze was reported just before 3 p.m. alongside the eastbound lanes at Lakewood Boulevard where the number 3 lane was temporarily closed so firefighters can put out the brush fire. By 4 p.m., the CHP declared the roadway clear. It's the second time since Thursday that a brush fire alongside the 105 Freeway triggered a SigAlert in Los Angeles County. On Thursday morning, a fire alongside the freeway in the West Athens area also forced lane closures.. Both fires remain under investigation. City News Service contributed to this report.
