Join Cultivate the City's interactive workshop and discover the art of making hot sauce from one of Cultivate the City's lead farmers! Every year, we make several different types of hot sauces from our unique (and super spicy) fresh peppers, and we're finally ready to share the knowledge and show you how to make your own. Learn about some of the secret ingredients that make their way into most of our sauces and the flavor profiles of different peppers, how to determine heat levels without killing your taste buds, and how to make a shelf-stable product with minimal processing. Due to COVID-19, we will not be making hot sauce on site. Each person will receive a small bottle of Cultivate the City hot sauce and the ingredients to make your own at home. Here are some of the hot sauces we've like to make year-to-year: Strawberry Peach Killer Sauce (Ghost Peppers) Wild Berry Hot Sauce (Jalapenos and Chilis) Friendship the Sauce (Ground Cherries, Habaneros and Lemon Drop Peppers) Friendship Killer Hot Sauce (Ghost Peppers) District of Fire (Pawpaw, Ground Cherries, Fish Peppers, Lemon Drop Peppers) Cultivate the City is an urban farming company based in Washington DC. We manage a network of sites including restaurant gardens, corporate and municipal green spaces, school gardens, a retail garden center and a rooftop farm at Nationals Park. Check out our various class offerings and if you don't see what you're looking for just send us a message at [email protected]. We can also conduct private classes as a part of a corporate retreat, birthday party or a regular Sunday!
