Join us for our 3rd annual Hot Summer Celebration August 28th featuring Hot Pepper Eating Contest, Hot Pepper Dishes, Farm Skills Carnival Join us for our 3rd annual Hot Summer Celebration August 17th featuring Hot Pepper Eating Contest, Hot Pepper Dishes, Hot Pepper Plant Sale, International Teen Pop Dance Battle and Farm Carnival Skills Competitions, including Snake Gourd Dart Throw, Rotten Tomato Stomp and Bamboo Splitting. Full Dining Pass $30; All Games Pass $20; Combined Ticket--All Food and Games $50. Hot Pepper Eating Copntest $10. YOU CAN DONATE EVEN IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND. Hit the "DONATE" Option on Eventbrite. This year, we are raising money for the following: (1) A vehicle (i.e., passenger van) to transport our workers and farm-to-school students who cant drive and do not have access to reliable transportation. (2) A rear-tine tiller (3) Additional trailer and hitch (4) Land purchase and fencing to expand our urban farm program (4) Farm to School supplies for classroom activities (5) Fund to pay our youth workers assisting us on Shanti Yard Corps assignments Thanks in advance for your contribution to this great cause that means so much to us! PLEASE NOTE: All contributors beyond ticket sales $50 and up will receive our Hot Pepper Package that will include our specialty half-dozen home-grown Bhutanese hot peppers and a packet of hot pepper seeds to grow your very own hot pepper plants. .A working urban farm and community outreach landscaping work crews for charitable, cultural and educational purposes. Our goals include: (a) Preserving and promoting the agricultural heritage of local immigrants and refugees in our community(b) Partnering with the public school district to bring comprehensive farm-to-school programs to its students, including a youth-led farmers markets.(c) Developing major urban agricultural projects, including yard maintenance for youth as well as the mature worker, for economic development and educational purposes. We are an educational urban farm project to train and empower new Americans and other alternative workers to learn and earn by participating in the local food movement. We also strive to ensure that the Old World agricultural heritage ingrained in many of our members is preserved and cultivated and passed on to the next generations.
