Sunny Side 7-Piece Jazz Band from New Orleans ALL AGES Sunny Side Jazz band based out of NOLA heavily influenced by the music of Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and many other early jazz legends. Sunny Side Sunny Side is a jazz band based out of New Orleans, Louisiana. They are heavily influenced by the music of Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Sidney Bechet, Fats Waller, Cab Calloway, and many other early jazz legends. The band name “Sunny Side” was created in 2019, and is composed of musicians that have played together in various jazz projects around New Orleans since 2017. The name “Sunny Side” was influenced by the 1930 Fats Waller/Jimmy McHugh jazz standard “On the Sunny Side of the Street”. During COVID quarantine, Sunny Side was one of the first bands to begin providing music outdoors to a musically starved community in local parks around New Orleans. This service turned into a regular event that has hosted several other local bands and musicians including legendary musicians from The Preservation Hall. For 2021, Sunny Side plans to continue to build on this idea of sharing this classic music to the public in parks and venues around the country. We are a private club selling liquor, which means you must become a member in order to purchase alcoholic beverages. New and renewing members pay $1 for an annual membership. If you do not have a legal ID, and you are over 21, we will not be able to serve you adult beverages. There is also a surcharge at the door of $2 if you are under 21.
