There is one dedicated hike leader. Wear shoes with traction, there will be roots, rocks and things to trip over. We avoid asphalt as much as possible. Wear tall socks, there is poinson ivy on the trails and tall socks can add some protection from branches scratching and other natural hazards on trail. Forest Femmes is an open trail group with a focus on having fun, meeting new friends and enjoying nature! Our goal is to get women out on the trails and men are welcome. Created and operated by Icebug, who makes shoes with the best grip. Due to Covid 19, we have some changes we needed to make: -Capacity will be limited. Your space must be reserved through Event Brite to participate. If we have good compliance with safety, we will look at increasing capacity. - Participants must read and sign waiver if they have not already. Info provided for contact tracing. - Must have face mask on hand during trail outing and wear if within 6ft of each other. - Face masks are recommended but not required to be worn during the run or hike. - Participants must stay 6 feet apart at all times unless wearing a mask. (This includes during the event.) - We ask that you STAY HOME if you are ill, are awaiting COVID-19 test results, have had contact with someone who is awaiting test results, is experiencing symptoms, or has tested positive for COVID-19. As always, remember to wear shoes with traction! On Forest Femmes: – A concept that started in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2016, and now is spreading over the world. Can you hear the forest calling? How would you rather run on beautiful paths among trees and greenery than trying to catch your breath on dull asphalt or on a treadmill? Is it just that you don’t really know which path to choose, or that you’re afraid to take that step into the unknown on your own? You’re not alone thinking that it can be a bit scary to run alone in the forest, especially when darkness falls. Of course, this is not how it should be. It’s not the forest itself that is scary - it is wonderful. Forest Femmes is an initiative to encourage more women to try trail running. Together we own the forest. The forest becomes a place where we both get exercise, fresh air, experiences, and new friends. All ages are welcome, and no level is too high or low. There will always be somebody running by your side. Forest Femmes meets once a week and runs beautiful trails around the city. We hope that Forest Femmes will be something larger, something that grows outside Icebug's frames and that inspires women all over the world to discover how amazing it is to run in the forest. So let the story continue, right here in Minneapolis.
