Special Screening of TRUSTED MESSENGER, our new PBS documentary about vaccination efforts in Minnesota. Please join us for the first-ever Special Screening of TRUSTED MESSENGER, our new documentary about vaccination efforts in Minnesota. A group discussion with the makers of the film will follow the hour-long film presentation. The event is free and will take place Saturday, August 7th at 10am, at the historic Riverview Theater in Minneapolis. Please register here on Eventbrite, and share the link with your friends! The world still grapples with COVID-19 and herd immunity eludes us, with vaccine skepticism posing a huge obstacle. During the early months of the vaccination effort, filmmaker Chris Newberry and his crew followed a diverse ensemble of health care professionals as they set out to convince at-risk communities across Minnesota to trust a health system that has historically failed them. The resulting documentary is a tribute to the doctors and nurses, the organizers and influencers, who are embracing community-led efforts to overcome vaccine hesitancy. Please note: In an effort to prevent the spread of disease, the event organizers are taking precautions to limit transmission risk. We will limit attendance to HALF the Theater seat capacity (350 out of 700). We require that any attendee who has not been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 wear a mask at all times, and we highly recommend vaccinated persons also wear a mask when not eating or drinking. We encourage all those who are able to help support the Riverview Theater by purchasing snacks and drinks at the concession stand. Popcorn for Breakfast!! This event is being generously presented by the National Resource Center for Refugees, Immigrants, and Migrants; Global Medicine at the University of Minnesota; and the U of M Center for Global Health and Social Responsibility.
