Shops on Top, Blac Detroit Magazine, and Doomsday Shelter Comedy for Mental Health proudly bring you a night of live standup comedy. Shops on Top, Blac Detroit Magazine, and Doomsday Shelter Comedy for Mental Health proudly bring you a night of laughter in the heart of Detroit's Eastern Market, starring national standup comedy headliner and Pontiac native Mike Geeter, and a showcase of the city's best up-and-coming comedy talent. Doors open at 6:30 PM; come in early and shop, eat, drink, and mingle until 7:45 PM. Show starts promptly at 8:00 PM and will run until approximately 9:30 PM. MIKE GEETER: As an Ivy League dropout and community college graduate from Pontiac, MI, Mike brings a pointed look at life, family, and relationships that few others can ∨ should. From his upbringing in a family with 17 children to discussing his life as a father, Mike's comedy is jagged wit mixed with a smooth delivery. Mike has headlined some of the finest comedy venues in the country and has worked with such outstanding comedians as Kevin Hart, Hannibal Burress, Natasha Leggero, Jim Norton, and Rickey Smiley, to name a few. Mike was featured on Fox Television's comedy showcase "Laughs" (Season 1) and the Detroit episode of "Kevin Hart Presents: Hart Of The City 2" on Comedy Central (Season 2). Mike has recently released his first full length comedy CD "The Charm Offensive," available on all digital platforms. ANN DUKE: Ann Duke has been on stage most of her life. As a small child she caught the theatre bug participating in school plays and then joining her local theatre troupe at age 12. She studied theatre at University of Michigan earning both a B.A. and M.A. In 2019, she got the bug to perform on stage again and tried her hand at stand-up by participating in comedy classes at Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle. Two and a half years later, Duke is a favorite among “women of a certain age,” who can relate to the trials and tribulations of getting older, being single in your sixties and battling body image issues. By day, Duke is the Director of Philanthropy for Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County and consults as Associate Publisher of BLAC Detroit magazine. She lives in Bloomfield Hills with her 24-year-old daughter and biggest fan, Deanna. Ann will host Nathan Timmel at Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle this Thanksgiving weekend. JAY HUNTER: A delinquent from Cleveland Ohio, Jay Hunter joined the military to see the world. What returned? A refreshingly goofy take on a life that is ready, willing and able to be laughed at. TAM WHITE: Tam White is a stand-up comic and improv actor from Detroit, MI. She is currently a resident cast member at the Go Comedy Improv Theatre in Ferndale and producer of the improv game show 'Hip-Prov', which she currently hosts weekly and streams live on Facebook. Stand-Up appearances include Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle, One Night Stan’s Comedy Club, Detroit Women of Comedy Festival, Second City Break Out Comedy Festival, Grand Rapids Laughfest and Chicago Women's Funny Fest. JASON FYLAN-MARES: JASON FYLAN-MARES is the founder and CEO of Doomsday Shelter Comedy for Mental Health, a multi-platform self-help sanctuary born during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, Doomsday Shelter Comedy has run wildly successful shows in Fenton, Detroit, Sterling Heights, and Oxford, including fundraisers for Wounded Warrior Project, Top Dog Rescue, The Cat Connection, and Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle. During his two years in comedy Jason has featured for J. Chris Newberg, Matt McClowry, Bill Bushart, Mike Ball, and Kareem Green, and will host Mary Mack from Hulu's hit series "Solar Opposites" at Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle September 16, 17, & 18.  RYAN BROWN: Ryan uses his unique perspective to joke about marriage, kids, movies and life in the social media era. Nothing is under attack but nothing is off limits and everything is, hopefully, funny. He has performed across the country and you can see him hosting at One Night Stans Comedy Club July 29th-31st and featuring at Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle August 19th-21st.
