NEW LONDON, CT — A woman sustained gunshot injuries during a shooting Saturday morning in the area of Mitchell Court and Montauk Avenue, police reported on social media. The shooting took place around 8:12 a.m., and emergency responders initially brought the victim to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for treatment. She was subsequently transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital, police said. "It should be noted that the incident does not appear to be a random act," police said on Facebook. Police also said shots had been fired late Friday night in the area of Colman Street and Cedar Grove Avenue. Multiple shell casings were located in the area, and officers collected evidence, processed the scene and canvassed the area. No injuries were reported during that incident.
