I get it. Bashar is trying to cling to power for as long as he can. He schooled in England and could have better ties to the West but chooses not to. When Obama and Hillary were pushing their Arab Spring agenda throughout the Middle East it's understandable Bashar had to fight to keep his control. I don't blame him for that. But look at his country now. Torn apart from ISIS and Iran. Constant battles being fought in the skies and land of Syria and the ones's suffering the most is the citizens. Why not just say okay enough is enough and we want ALL foreigners off our land. We are done with all this fighting and killing. It's just not worth it anymore. If it means giving up power and giving it back to the people then so be it but for God's sake no more fighting. What do you think would happen? Anything? Nothing? There is nothing for Syria to gain from all of this. They are a pawn of Iran and others to constantly poke at Israel. Israel isn't going nowhere no matter how hard anyone tries to get rid of them. Israel is only growing stronger and stronger. So there's really nothing for Syria or Lebanon or Gaza to gain. Give it up and let peace reign.
