Apply at: ***Job is located in Sherwood, Oregon*** ***retention bonus may be offered: $500 after 30 days and $500 after 60 days on the job*** Coast Pavement Services is seeking experienced screed operators with a strong work ethic and who want to be part of the Paving it Forward culture at Coast as part of its paving team. The successful operator will have experience operating the paving machine in a variety of conditions. Coast primarily works in parking lots and facilities of apartment complexes, home-owners associations, commercial outlets, industrial facilities and office buildings. Our work includes an increasing split of prevailing and standard work but does not include highway work and only limited situations of residential paving. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Operate asphalt paver and/or screed to lay asphalt per plan and specifications. - Make normal adjustments for providing proper depth, grade, and finish of asphalt. - Ability to guide and direct dump trucks while backing up to machine hopper while operating paver. - Clean and maintain equipment as necessary with support of company shop. - Thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including prep work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details. - Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS - At least two years experience operating asphalt pavement screed machine is required. - Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dusty environments. - Be flexible on schedule with overtime, nights (rarely) and weekends (Saturdays) as necessary - Must have a strong work ethic. - Ability to thrive in a team setting. - Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors, and customers in a courteous, professional manner at all times. - Those with a valid driver's license are highly preferred. - Must be able to pass a pre-employment and random drug testing. COMPENSATION NOTES: Paycheck Stabilization Program: Coast offers employees the opportunity to enroll in the PSP program. When an employee works at least one hour in the workweek they can borrow against future earnings to create stabilization of their paychecks year-round.
