For the past several years, I have enjoyed my second career as a counselor. I am a teacher at heart, as that was my first job before being a school administrator and counselor. I am a lifelong learner and enjoy reading on my Kindle, listening to podcasts and watching YouTube to get the latest teachings and ideas for my work. In terms of my professional credentials, I have a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Nazarene University. In 2010, I became a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and in 2011, a licensed alcohol & drug counselor (LADC). My post graduate training includes Emotionally Focused Therapy for which I am certified (ICEEFT), and ongoing training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. In addition, I have completed Levels One and Two of Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Another certification I am proud of is Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator (the work of Brenè Brown). I have also completed Level One Internal Family Systems training. It’s a pleasure to be able to help curious, open and willing individuals search for their true selves and find fulfillment in their relationships. DBT Institute Oklahoma City is a private mental health practice where we live and breathe Dialectical Behavior Therapy. We help people build lives worth living in a mindful, collegial atmosphere.
