B/ROSE Co-founded by friends Rebekah and Andi, B/ROSE is a salon located in Powell, Ohio that provides a unique and inclusive experience for all of their patrons. As a salon with a purpose, the ladies of B/ROSE care just as much about your hair as they do kindness, the environment, and your furry friends! Make-A-Day Foundation The Make-A-Day Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides outreach to Columbus’ homeless population. For more than three years, these outreach efforts have been centered around hosting block party styled, pop-up events. Each events focuses on connecting our homeless guests with our community and resources available to end homelessness. Each event also provides guests with free clothing, personal care items, a complementary meal and of course our famous haircuts, shampoos, and shaves from some of the city’s best local cosmetologists. Recently, the Make-A-Day Foundation has expanded its focus, to assist our guests with ongoing challenges after events regarding health, behavioral health, community and social service agencies. These new partnerships allow Make-A-Day’s homeless guests to access “on-the-spot” presumptive Medicaid health insurance coverage, on-sight medical, behavioral health, dental and vision services and referrals. Make-A-Day has also established an ongoing partnership with Franklin County’s Office of Justice Policy Programs to offer homeless guests access to on-sight expungement, warrant removal, peer support services and other smart justice resources and programs. Make A Day started as a lunch between two cousins, Alex and Kyle. Walking up and down High St. in the Short North they often saw numerous homeless men and women looking for change. They started with buying extra lunches to hand out on the way back to work and evolved into invitations to join them for lunch together. Alex and Kyle quickly realized the connection was more important than the food just as it had been all along for themselves. With the help of their cousin Rebekah that premise would scale to host 100's of homeless men and women at Make A Day events all over Columbus. Make A Day hosts pop-up events with local businesses catering to our homeless community. We bring in food trucks, salons, coffee shops, and volunteers all with the focus of connecting and supporting our community. We believe sharing a meal together, chatting with a barber or hairstylist are all easy and loving ways for us to connect with others. In many cases we have turned these relationships into jobs, places to stay and a few newly extended family members at the dinner table. While we focus on helping the homeless with our resources available we have a wide scope for aid. We have worked with Nationwide Children's Hospital for past events and are open to other causes to get behind. We believe no organization in Columbus can do more good with a dollar than we can. And with your donation today we can say, every donation goes straight to those in need. No salaries or overhead here just old fashioned hard work and dedication to our community all donated from our end. Thank you for supporting Make A Day and please visit us at www.makeaday.fun for more information and our facebook page for details on joining us for upcoming events.
