Description

Nature informed Mindfulness and Yoga invites the healing powers of nature to improve mental health & wellbeing, and renew the spirt. Step back from the fast-pace of summer and open your senses to the wonders of nature. Join Mira Tessman and Phillip McKnight in a 1.5 hour event that invites you to slow down and listen to the body, center the mind in the present moment, open the heart, and renew the spirit in connection with community and the healing powers of nature. This event will include yoga/mindful movement in a natural setting under a spacious open tent, guided nature-informed mindfulness in the forest with metta (loving-kindness) for self, community, world peace, and will conclude with a final sharing circle. No experience is needed. Bring a yoga mat or beach towel, and water bottle. Spaces are limited. Sliding scale fee of $20-50. “How I go to the woodsOrdinarily, I go to the woods alone, with not a single friend, for they are all smilers and talkers and therefore unsuitable. I don’t really want to be witnessed talking to the catbirds or hugging the old black oak tree. I have my way of praying, as you no doubt have yours. Besides, when I am alone I can become invisible. I can sit on the top of a dune as motionless as an uprise of weeds, until the foxes run by unconcerned. I can hear the almost unhearable sound of the roses singing. If you have ever gone to the woods with me, I must love you very much.” ― Mary Oliver, Swan: Poems and Prose Poems Event Facilitators Phillip McKnightPronouns- he/him Phillip has experience teaching a wide variety of ages, backgrounds, and abilities and uses his MA in Instructional Systems Design to determine the needs of the participant and help them develop skills in mindfulness meditation with tools for body, heart, mind, and community. She loves teaching, creating yoga sequences, hiking, biking, kayaking and hanging out with family and friends. We all need to heal, to regain our center when we fall off balance, to recalibrate when we veer off course, to remember our True Nature when we're lost in self-doubt, depression, and anxiety and lose touch with our sense of purpose and meaning. The healing arts offer us maintenance and support for daily living. Yoga helps us bring ease to our bodies, open our hearts, and clear our minds. The healing arts are my passion!
