Inspired by bizarre nap dreams, life changes and the overwhelming pull to connect to the universe and every being in it, The Village Bicycle ponders the big questions while still enjoying life’s little mysteries. They thoroughly love sharing themselves through their music, and their enigmatic energy onstage makes for an awesome, upbeat live experience. JOSHUA POWELL Joshua Powell is an artist from Indianapolis with a literate brand of psychedelic indie rock that is simultaneously socially conscious and spiritually turbulent. With over 900 shows under his belt, Powell blends the narrative richness of folk with a dose of hallucinatory swirl and notes of ‘00s-vintage bedroom indie, all highlighted in ethereal falsetto by his purposeful, kaleidoscopic poetry. LEARNING CURVE Taking root in early 2019, Cleveland’s Learning Curve is the musical partnership of Erick Smyczek and Alexander Christian. A year of shows culminated in plans to release their first collection of songs following a couple singles. Building on their shared histories with emo and pop punk adjacent sounds, the guitar-and-drum duo recorded their debut extended play, CENTERPIECE. After finally self releasing this spring, the band is ready to stretch out again and see where their energetic musings on self confidence and anxiety can take them. The Village Bicycle Joshua Powell, Learning Curve The Grog Shop opened in September of 1992 in the Coventry Rd. neighborhood of Cleveland Heights. Though expanded in size when moved to it’s current location in 2003, the club maintains the intimacy and raw character it has always been known for. We have a full bar with an extensive list of micro-brews, imports, and domestic beer, and of course plenty of liquor.
