Our Colonial Tavern Night returns on Friday night, October 1st. Enjoy craft beer & a pulled pork BBQ dinner with tavern games on the lawn. Colonial Tavern Night returns to Old Fort Johnson on the first Friday of October. Starting at 5:30 on October 1st, our outdoor tavern features local craft beers brewed by Wolf Hollow Brewery, hard cider and iced tea. Your admission includes one drink, a full Pulled Pork Barbeque dinner and a souvenir pint glass. Additional drink tickets available on site. The historic Fort Johnson will be open until 7:00 pm for self-guided tours and a scavenger hunt. In addition, we’ve got eighteenth century board and lawn games to test your skills. Bring your friends and make it an evening to remember! All proceeds go towards the restoration of Old Fort Johnson.  The Montgomery County Historical Society (MCHS) was founded in 1904 to preserve and promote Mohawk Valley history. This vision continues to shape our programs, exhibits and activities. The society has operated the 1749 home of Sir William Johnson as a museum for 113 years with collections spanning more than four centuries of local history.  MCHS is a local not-for-profit organization. Our largest artifact, Old Fort Johnson, is a National Historic Landmark, but we do not receive any federal, state or local funding for operations. We rely on memberships and donations to preserve Old Fort Johnson as a vital cultural and historical destination.  Thank you for your support.
