Description

STOP THE BLEED- Free and open to the public. This is a voluntary course to teach evidence-based, life-saving bleeding control techniques shown to dramatically increase casualty survival to civilians who are already on scene of a casualty incident. Called “Traumatic Bleeding Control” (also known as “Stop the bleed” or STB) this course was developed in response to the Committee on Trauma and the Hartford Consensus led by Dr. Lenworth Jacobs. This course teaches participants the basic life-saving medical interventions, including bleeding control with a tourniquet, bleeding control with gauze packs or topical hemostatic agents, and opening an airway to allow a casualty to breathe. The course is designed for those who have little or no medical training but may be called upon to respond to and deliver trauma care and bleeding control prior to first responder’s arrival on scene. Luling ISD employee attendees will receive an ‘individual TBC kit’ to keep at no cost. Instructors note to attendee’s: This training course will include sections of ‘hands on’ participation. We will be placing medical adjuncts on ourselves and each other. Please take this into consideration when choosing your attire for that day. All gear and equipment will be provided. There are no prerequisites for attendance. The only required equipment you are responsible for bringing is: Good attitude, open mind, pen and paper. If you have previously attended one of the STB courses, and would like to come and 'brush up' or get a 'refresher', please bring your kit, and come join us! We will also start promptly at the time listed. Depending on class size and pace, we may finish earlier than scheduled. Looking forward to training with you- How can I contact the organizer with any questions? Email: [email protected]
