Burdick has also recorded and or performed with Laura Stevenson, Matt Pond PA, Grammy-winning children's artist the Okee Dokee Brothers, and many more. John Burdick often performs in solo, duo, and trio formats, but the soon to be released EP Birds and Birds is a fully produced effort in a genre described by a friend as "post-prog stoner pop." While Mr. Burdick objects to the lifestyle implications of the label, he concedes that it is a pretty accurate description of the John Burdick sound. Slated for August release on SubFamily Records, Birds and Birds features contributions form a number of prominent mid-Hudson valley talents, including the well known songwriter Laura Stevenson, drummer and producer C.I.T.E., Grammy winning producer and multi-instrumentalist Dean Jones, Real Estate's current drummer Sammi Niss, Sarah Perrotta, and Orange County Live Music's own keyboard virtuoso Neil "Nail" Alexander. After a productive year in quarantine, John Burdick is currently at work on a follow-up full-length and is booking shows in listening environments throughout the region. Orange County Arts Council’s music committee, composed of professional musicians throughout the region, have developed a creative solution to support musicians. O.C. Live offers musicians the opportunity to directly connect with audiences and provides our community with enriching local performances. Now hybrid, audiences can attend in person or tune in to Orange County Arts Council’s Social media to listen to local musicians. The audience is able to learn and connect with musicians during interviews conducted during the intermission. With two locations - CoLab in Goshen and Stonegate Farms in Newburgh, the pilot program has had approximately 2000 viewers. The Orange County Arts Council music committee includes Dion Placencia, Neil Alexander, Everett Collie, Aeden Lebron, Tom Kennedy, and Waylen Roache. Learn more at ocartscouncil.org.
