Criu de Sheela - Crew of Sheela ~
Masquerade Ball and Benefit Gala! ~
21+ event
We are hosting a Masquerade Ball and Benefit Gala on September 11th at the historic French House to celebrate both our love of costuming and our community. We are establishing a scholarship fund with proceeds to go to a female or nonbinary local public High School Student, who wants to study Art or the Social Sciences in college. The theme of the Masquerade Ball is Enchanted Forest, costumes, masks, and headdresses highly encouraged. Live music, food, and beverages included. Silent auction will include a myriad of surprises. We welcome all genders, races, ethnicities, and ages to join us in our revelry. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram for ticket info, headdress tutorials, costume ideas, auction teasers, and more. Tickets will be limited, do not miss this epic, 21+ event.
Criu De Sheela Na Gig is a Social Aid + Pleasure Club in the style of New Orleans Mardi Gras Krewes dedicated to Community, Culture, and Costuming. We are a group founded in the likeness of our namesake, the ancient Irish goddess Sheela Na Gig. Sheela is known as many things: ancient fertility goddess, protector of loved ones from evil spirits, and possible wife of Patrick. In Ireland her feast day, known as Sheela's Day, is celebrated on March 18th. We honor the creative and fiercely loving spirit of all Sheela's manifestations. We encourage and champion storytelling and cultural transmission through costuming and community celebration.
