Learn how to make one of kind fine silver pieces using fine silver metal clay! Participants in this introduction level class will learn how to mold, shape, refine, and sinter fine (.999) silver clay to create one-of-a-kind pendant or pair of earrings. The $115 materials fee includes 20g of fine silver (.999) metal clay and a basic clay working kit as well as use of the instructor's tools and the Makerspace jewelry department equipment. One of the sintering methods that will be used is torch firing; which will include the use of a butane torch. As such, it is essential that participants take the necessary precautions, including wearing close-fitting natural fiber clothing (cotton recommended) and closed toed shoes. Unvaccinated participants are expected to wear appropriate face masks and maintain social distancing protocols for the class.
