Enter the Astrodome and get ready to fly with Brewster McCloud, a dark comedy and the next entry in our Robert Altman Month. Harold and Maude’s Bud Cort stars as Brewster, a recluse taking residence in a fallout shelter beneath the Houston Astrodome. He aspires to build a pair of wings to allow himself to fly with the assistance of a beautiful stranger (Sally Kellerman), who may or may not be an angel. As Brewster persists in achieving this goal, he becomes an unexpected suspect in murder, thus beginning a madcap trial involving landlords, cruel authority figures, and bird droppings. Featuring Altman regulars Michael Murphy and Shelley Duvall, Brewster McCloud is ripe with absurdism and unpredictability and remains one of Altman’s most unsung classics. “We get the sense of a live intelligence, rushing things ahead on the screen, not worrying whether we’ll understand.” – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times “There is a plot in BREWSTER McCLOUD, but it mainly showcases the surreal nature of Altman’s cinema. It’s a must see for lovers of weirdness, expression and redemptive grace.” – Patrick McDonald, WBGR-FM (93.7 FM – Monroe, WI) “The film is so odd and freewheeling that it probably should have become a cult classic, if not for the fact that it has been so hard to find on video.” – Jeffrey M. Anderson, Combustible Celluloid The Frida Cinema is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching, connecting, and educating communities through the art of cinema.  Founded in 2014, it is Orange County's sole non-profit, independent cinema.OC's year-round film festival.
