The Midlands African Chamber, Inc., is pleased to announce its one-year anniversary celebration to be held 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021 The Midlands African Chamber, Inc., is pleased to announce its one-year anniversary celebration to be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 3224 California St., Omaha, NE 68131. The Midlands African Chamber is a non-profit organization that advocates and represents the business interests and issues affecting the African and African American communities in Nebraska and the Midwest. The anniversary celebration is a free in-person event to commemorate the inception of the Chamber, the entrepreneurial spirit and empowerment network created within. The Chamber was founded in July of 2020, out of a desire to help such growing businesses by offering events, covering education, leadership development, legal consultation, securing business funding, business expansion, and networking. To carry out this mission the Chamber serves as the voice of the business and involves the public and private sectors in community leadership. The celebration marks a monumental moment for the Chamber as it has assembled a working board of a dozen professionals in varied backgrounds from business, finance, legal, marketing, communications, philanthropy, and community activism who volunteer their time. Our Board and its members make up a diverse Chamber not only in profession but also a mix of cultures, ethnicities, and of those American and foreign-born. Midlands African Chamber President Karine Sokpoh said the personal experiences of its board and members are notable “as they enrich our understanding for creating a wealth of a good life and great opportunities. It’s a phrase all Nebraskans can embrace.” The anniversary celebration will begin with open remarks provided by Sokpoh. The event allows community members a chance to come by, meet the Midlands African Chamber Board and its members, and learn more about the non-profit’s upcoming events.
