Description
Dance performance on the deck of the ship, "The House of the Spirits", based on the novel by Isabel Allende, followed by a sunset sail. Check in is at the start time of the event or shortly thereafter, followed by boarding. No need to come earlier than the posted start time. Location and Parking Matthew Turner is docked at the US Army Corps of Engineers Bay Model Visitor Center. Access is via Marinship Way. Free parking is available in the lot. A crew member will meet you at the gate to escort you down the pier to the ship. What to Bring You are welcome to bring food and beverage of your choice.Dress in layers: a windbreaker, warm base layer, gloves, hat, scarf and comfortable shoes. No high heels are permitted.Masks are required to access the interior spaces of the shipCameras are welcome Kathryn Roszak's Danse Lumière presents a highlight dance based on the novel by by Isabel Allende, The House of the Spirits. The performance will feature Theresa Knudson, formerly of Diablo Ballet and the director of Ballet 22. Knudson is from Orange County, CA, and received her ballet training from Lois Ellyn. She has danced professionally with Nouveau Chamber Ballet, Diablo Ballet, Wonderbound, ARC Dance, Menlowe Ballet, Raiford Rogers Modern Ballet, Oakland Ballet Company, and Mark Foehringer Dance Project. She studied at summer intensive programs and workshops with American Ballet Theatre in NYC, Boston Ballet, Jose Límon West, Ballet Austin, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Theresa is the co-founder and Executive Director of Ballet22. Kathryn Roszak's Danse Lumière has performed in NYC and in SF Bay Area, and Roszak is the founder of Women Ballet Choreographers and Composers Institute, presenting programs both in New York City and in the San Francisco Bay Area. The institute will recognize Wendy Whelan, Associate Artistic Director of New York City Ballet, for her leadership. The award ceremony will take place in New York City this fall. Roszak has also curated a program of women ballet choreographers for the BAMPFA, featuring Smuin Ballet, Berkeley Ballet Theater, and Diablo Ballet along with Danse Lumière. On occasion, we will need to reschedule a sail due to extreme wind or rain. You will be notified within at least 24 hours of the scheduled sail and we will work with you to reschedule the event Why Call of the Sea? We're a nonprofit supporting on-the-water environmental education. During the week, we provide educational programs to youth. Community Sails are a great way to share our mission with new people and to help lower costs for youth educational sails.
