Your dog is a candidate for this class if: 1) Your dog has been approved to move up from the Beginner Nosework level or 2) Your dog has earned Nosework titles in any novice or advance level in UKC, NASCW or AKC. The Instructors will set up unique courses some weeks for teams to run and work on all elements. The dogs will be introduced to distractions and detailing, will strengthen and add duration to their trained alert behavior. Dogs will learn to work to and pinpoint the source odor in many types of settings and will be introduced to Handler Discrimination. Class will work on handler skills as well. The class is run seminar style where all dogs are crated when it is not their turn to work so owners will need to bring their dogs crate. If you are serious about competing, then this is the class for you! Master Nosework is for dogs working at the UKC Masters and Elite or equivalent levels of nosework. Your dog is a candidate for this class if: 1) Your dog has achieved a UKC novice superior title or AKC Scentwork equivalent, is actively pursuing a UKC Master or elite title or AKC Scentwork Excellent or equivalent they qualify for this class.2) If it is determined this class is too difficult, the instructors will advise.The class will focus on handling, drills driving to odor and training dogs to work independently with minimum handler interference. Handlers will be given tips on reading a search area and let in on tips to avoid trial pitfalls. There will not necessarily be a search field set up. Also we will work drills to assist handlers in reading their dog while it searches as the upper levels in all disciplines is now unknown number of hides. The class is run seminar style where all dogs are crated when it is not their turn to work so owners will need to bring their dogs crate. In addition, all students will be expected to participate by helping set out and take up search items and contribute item for searches as needed if ever so required. All handlers must affirm the following statement upon registration: “I affirm that my dog(s) have been properly vaccinated following an accepted vaccination protocol. Upon request I can provide vaccination records, titers, and/or the protocol followed or a waiver from my veterinarian.” What are the class times? 6:15 - 7:15pm Is the training indoors? Yes, in a climate controlled building. Is there a minimum age limit? Handlers under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Are all breeds welcome? Yes Are mixed breeds welcome? Yes Do all registration questions need to be answered? DTCDC Active Members - Only those questions marked with an asterisk must be answered. All other attendees - Yes, all questions must be answered before registration is complete. These questions provide us with information that will improve your training experience.
